Boys

Life with my boys is always eventful. Today started off like a normal day. And after breakfast Will went to the bathroom like he normally does. Luke has been fascinated with Will using the potty and has been wanting to sit on the potty. He has also been walking around saying "poopoo potty" and "peepee potty". This cracks us up, because Luke and his little 21 month old self is so excited about sitting on the potty. I guess we have big brother to thank for that. But, Will was a different story, he didn't really want to try out the potty until after he turned 3, he's helping to keep that average age for potty training strong. All that to say, Luke's current fascination is amazing to us.

So, anyways Luke got up on the potty and sat there for a minute. He even tried to grunt and push, it was actually totally adorable. Then we went in his bedroom and he was playing around with me and didn't want to come over to me to put his diaper on. He ran around for a minute then went over next to Will and pooped on the floor! I shrieked, snatched him up and ran him back to the potty, but of course he didn't have anything left for the potty.

What's interesting to me is that it seemed like he knew he needed to go, he just didn't quite know how to do it when he was on the potty. Funny little guy. But, I sure am hoping that these are good signs for an early and easy potty training!

Then later this afternoon Jared was going to mow the yard and Will was getting ready, because he's the self-appointed lawn assistant. Any time Jared does the yard Will has to be out there helping him. He gets his big dump truck and follows behind Jared and the lawnmower, it's very cute to watch. Then when their done he says precious things like: "Daddy we make a good team". It just doesn't get any better than that.

Sorry, I digress... So, as Will was attempting to get his dump truck out of the back yard, he slipped and hit his knee square on the corner of our back patio (which is brick, the corners are pretty sharp). It split his knee right open. I heard him screaming and as I was walking to the door Jared came running in holding him saying "we're going to the emergency room". I just grabbed what I could and we were on our way. I think that God knew we would need that ER, because there's a hospital at the front of our neighborhood. So, it turns out he's okay, it was a good sized gash and he got it glued up. This was better for everyone, no shots or stitches. But, when we got home I told Jared that's a $100-$300 piece of glue.

The funny thing was one of the guys at the ER said he remembered us when we were in with Will before. I told him that he can get used to us, because with our boys we'll probably be in there again soon.

My boys never cease to amaze me with their "boy-ness" but I love them all the more for it!

Awe! Yes, boys will be boys! I am glad no stitches were needed. We will have to get together some time this summer!

Oh awesome! They are so funny! I love your boy stories. Well, okay, splitting your knee open probably can't be classified as "awesome" or "funny," but it is kind of endearing in that boyish way.
